2006 Review - Songs of the Year

Moving on from yesterday's Gigs of the Year, here's my list of favourite songs from the past twelve months. As per last year, only two of the artists in this list have also made it onto my Albums of the Year shortlist, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out who they are!

I love that song by the Automatic as well, although not sure if it is my favourite. I will however have to work out what is, as I have my big annual reflective post coming up soon!

Far be it from me to rain on your parade (or indeed, to 'fog up your airport') but Brakes' All Night Disco Party was from 2005.

True, it did get a release in 2005, but it also got released again in April 2006 - backed with a couple of mixes and the wonderful Porcupine Or Pineapple (off the new album).

So I defend its inclusion in my list!
