Sunday 31/08/03 by Phil Newton

Dom supports Manchester Utd, Stephen supports Southampton. So what better way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon than to invite them round, ply them with booze then sit down to watch the match together. I try to mediate as the insults fly. Saints seal a 1-0 victory in the 88th minute.

The boys are ready for another Saturday of football. With Bennett off watching Brighton & Hove Albion again, Dom hijacks his computer to check up the team line-ups on the internet.

That's more like it. The Box Office is graced by the prescence of Ruth, Bars Supervisor. What am I staring at, Ruth? Must have been some fascinating sheets of paper you've got there. I'm not in any way trying to peek down your top, nope, not at all, no way. Glad we cleared that up.

Back in the office after a weekend of movie overload. We didn't get back from London til gone 2am. All I want to do right now is get some sleep, but those phones are ringing again. Must remember to book an extra day off next year.

Monday 25/08/03 by Chrissy Huffman

With Steve outside the Prince Charles cinema on the final day of Frightfest. We've just sat through the unintentionally funny House Of The Dead, the 14th movie of this year's Festival. Only three more to go then... will we make it with our sanity intact?

With Chrissy outside the Prince Charles cinema. We've just watched the spooky Korean movie Phone and are having a quick break before the next movie starts. The guy to my left is Paul McEvoy, one of the Frightfest organisers, the guy to my right is Eric Valette, director of Malefique.

It's August Bank Holiday weekend, I'm sporting a fresh haircut and have come up to London for a few days. I've standing outside the Music & Video Exchange at the bottom of Berwick Street in the heart of Soho, a great place to trawl the racks for cheap CDs.

I've lowered my standards again in the cause of art. If only I could have known then that this picture was going to end up published in The Argus one day.

It's my birthday, I'm 33 years old today. My friend from Thailand, Sean, is also celebrating his birthday today back home in Cape Cod, hence the scribbled message. We also share our birthday with Matt Johnson from The The, who's Soul Mining album lent its name to my user ID.

Those 3-D glasses can mean only one thing - I've decided to check out Spy Kids 3-D down at the UCG cinema this afternoon. I enjoyed the first couple of Sky Kids movies, but this one is laboured and the 3-D gimmick just ends up annoying me.

Jim is our other Box Office rock star. He plays bass with Assam Rifles and is singer, songwriter and guitarist with his own band The Dirty Tricks. They are like a slightly more mature Busted and they ROCK!

Another fine day up North. I'm sat outside reading again - I've finally done with Stephen King and have moved onto the excellent South Of The Border, West Of The Sun by Haruki Marukami, which I finish in one day. Wildlife-cam courtesy of the bird table hiding amongst all the plants.

Friday 01/08/03 by Phil Newton

My parents live in the small Northumbrian village of Stocksfield, near Hexham, and about 30 minutes west of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. We're enjoying a heatwave in the UK at the moment, so Dad is busy working in the garden whilst I survey their new pond.
