Whatever happened to...?

2. Tom Atkins

Tom's name immediately sprung to mind while I was watching Night Of The Creeps, one of my favourite B-movies, over the weekend. He starred in a number of Hollywood action flicks in the late eighties including Lethal Weapon and Striking Distance, and also appeared in such genre films as Maniac Cop and Two Evil Eyes. Usually as a sardonic police chief.

So, whatever happened to Tom Atkins?

Hi.

Just an update on Tom.

I last saw him a couple of months ago, working as a security guard at Dixons's in Darlington.

I was amazed! I said "Tom Atkins?"

He said "No! Bozo the clown!"

Undeterred by this, I said "Can I ask you a question?"

Tom said "Thrill me!"

"Detective Tom, are there any AA batteries left in the store?"

Tom eyed me up and spoke thus: "I've got good news and bad news, girls. The good news is, the batteries are here".

"What's the bad news?" Says I

"There's dead"

Well, that was no use to me, so I cleared off. Next time you're in Darlington, pop in and say hi! I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Best wishes, Spanky.
